Why You Want To Add Live Webinars To Your Calendar
Published by Stephen Beck

While the participation rate for a live webinar is driven by the entertainment value, there are a number of reasons why they are powerful events to add to your business calendar.

One of the biggest reasons webinars are so worthwhile is because they are great at holding the attention of your prospects.  There are many products or services that a 15 or 30 second commercial will never sell.  A newspaper ad will not do the trick either.  Therefore you need a way to get the attention of your customer long enough to go through the process that is necessary to draw out a buying decision.

A live webinar is also powerful because of the interactive nature of webinars.  They allow you to get feedback instantly.  When I conduct a webinar, one my first questions is whether the participants can hear me.  They will tell me they can or if they cannot so I can adapt.  The process is just as simple for any other questions that I might have, which is perfect if you want to give a more targeted presentation.

When you conduct a webinar you can poll the participants.  Your webinar software should allow you to create a question, send it to the audience and display the results.  By doing this you make the webinar more fun, interactive and engaging for the participants.  When you create the poll you can see the percentage of participants that take the poll.  I use this information to my benefit by, for instance, telling my listeners that we have received responses from 62% of them and the poll will close in the next 30 seconds.  Many of them will rush in and complete the poll.  Once the poll is done, I can display the results to everyone so they can see the response.  This is all done real time.

In my business I sell information products on the internet, so one question I constantly ask is what their biggest obstacle is to making money online.  Some common responses I get on a live webinar are technology complexities, lack of ideas, time management issues, a lack of a clear plan and so on.  With this information I can make sure I address these challenges on my webinar.  This allows you to customize your presentation so that it meets the needs of your audience.  It also allows you to poll the state of your audience.

Webinars are fantastic events.  I credit them for a significant portion of the growth that I have experienced in my business and I believe that you too should incorporate a live webinar into your business model.
